Social Action Committee
The Social Action Committee (SAC) of Beth El Temple Center seeks out and acts on opportunities for our congregation to "repair the world" through projects and activities that address human needs, including food, shelter and security for families and children.
Our work includes direct donations and aid to food banks and shelters, raising money for organizations that support under-served populations, providing opportunities for congregants to volunteer their time and services, and calling attention to social and political issues through education, to name a few.
SAC believes that the pursuit of justice is a religious and moral imperative. Such work speaks to the contract between Judaism and the community-at-large to live up to lo alecha ham'lacha ligmor: "None of us bears the responsibility for completing the work, but we are also not free to abstain from it."
